The PiecesEach Chess piece in this unique set uses John Jaques' original design from 1850 and are crafted from fine Boxwood and jet black Ebony. Each piece is heavily weighted and cushioned with rich English leather in the original Jaques tradition.
The DesignThe white King is marked “Jaques London” and the King’s Rook and King’s Knight bear the mark of a crown on their summits. The visual impact of each piece is striking, combining both robustness and grace. From the graceful angular Bishop’s headpiece with its distinctive wide open cut, to the exquisite hand-crafted two-piece Knight taken straight from the visages of those magnificent steeds gracing the Parthenon, this is one of Jaques finest creations. Even the King’s Formée crossfinial is accurately detailed and can be easily removed.
The BoxThe set is housed in a fine English-made case with exquisite fitted trays, miniature brass lock and key. The case is lined and carries a replica of the Original Jaques Staunton Chess set label that was signed by Howard Staunton himself and is signed by the current Company Directors.
The HeirloomEach set of these heirloom quality chessmen also comes as standard with four Queens. After purchase be sure to send back the return section of the registration certificate so that your name can be added to the Jaques Staunton Chess Set History Archives. Do not miss out on your chance to own a piece of chess Set history.
