Sadly a Chess legend has passed away.John Littlewood a true ambassadore to the game of chess has died aged 78.
John who was the finest UK attacking player of his generation, notched up numerous grandmaster scalps, and competed at a high level in old age. His 19 British championships spanned 50 years in total, with highlights in 1962 when he scored 7.5/11, his son Paul Littlewood winning the title in 1981. Last month at Torquay John Littlewood became the second oldest finalist in the event's history. |
