Croquet Thoughts

Jaques of London, of the Famous Jaques sports and games company said 

the attractions of croquet included:

“An outdoor game with the mental stimulation of bridge or chess."

“One of the very few sports which is played on an equal basis by both sexes."

“An international sport in which Britain leads the world, and in which Northumberland competes nationally."

“A civilised sport in which referees get involved only when requested.”

Jaques Croquet added: “If you would like a social afternoon playing croquet in the sun, sitting on deckchairs in pleasant surroundings and getting up from time to time to swing a Jaques croquet mallet, or a walk around the croquet lawn for half an hour or so taking a shot every few minutes then this is the game for you.”
