Playing Backgammon Board games has always been a popular in Denmark, it is mostly played as a café recreation; but in 1987 the power of the people was mobilized when the Danish Backgammon Federation and Games League was established.
In short order, the Federation organized a system of intra-national leagues, with many of the participating teams finding sponsors in the cafes from which their members hailed.

New Zealand Backgammon Championship all Set
Backgammon Championship in New Zealand.
Dice-rattling enthusiasts will gather at Nelson’s Founders Park this weekend for the 2009 New Zealand Backgammon Championship.
The Nelson Backgammon Club has organised the event, which so far has 120 entrants.
Competition directors Grant Hoffman and Tony Gibbons are self-confessed backgammon addicts. Both play at least once a day.
Mr Hoffman said they would set up tables for the competition in and around the Jaycee Room. If it rained, “we’ll squish inside”, he said.

The Rules are Simple and if you’re playing with friends or playing at an tournament, the rules are basically the same.
Each of the two players has fifteen pieces that they are trying to remove from the board.
Boards have two main sections, divided by a bar. Each triangle on the board is called a point, and it represents a place on which a piece can rest. The Backgammon indoor game points are like the spaces in other games such as chess.
Since Pieces move both on the near points and on the far points on each side of the bar, the board is actually divided into quarters.
